FIRST CLASS GUIDE

What Happens at My Child's First Class?

THE SHORT ANSWER

Come about 10 minutes early, wear clothes your child can kick, punch, run and jump in, and never forget a water bottle. Parents are always welcome to stay and watch. We start with a friendly ice-breaker, teach a few simple manners, and treat your child just like everyone else, so they leave feeling confident.

Before you come

Arrive about 10 minutes early. We would be grateful if you come a little before class starts, so your child can settle in, meet the instructor and find their spot without rushing.

Wear clothes that move. Anything your child can kick, punch, run and jump in comfortably is perfect. No uniform or equipment is needed for the trial.

Never forget water! Bring a water bottle every time. If you do forget, there is a dollar store close by where you can grab one on the way.

How the first class goes

  • A friendly hello. We start by breaking the ice: a little chat with the instructor and the other kids, so nobody feels like the new one for long.
  • A few simple manners. We show the basic dojang manners every student follows, like bowing when you step on the mat and listening when the instructor speaks.
  • Treated just like everyone else. Your child joins the same drills as the rest of the class, with no spotlight and no pressure.
  • Room to feel proud. We set up moments where your child can try, succeed and feel real confidence before they go home.

Feeling a little shy on the first day is completely normal. Our job is to help your child walk out feeling more confident than when they walked in.

Parents are always welcome

Of course you can watch. Parents are always welcome to stay for the whole class, and there are seats right beside the mat.

Seeing you nearby helps a nervous child feel safe on day one, and you get to see for yourself how we teach.
